Redirects Easily Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 August 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Portside Commerce Ltd (“Portside Commerce,” “we,” “us”) handles information accessed through the Redirects Easily application for Shopify (“Redirects Easily,” “the application”). It is separate from the privacy policy for the portside-commerce.com website.
Portside Commerce Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17214839), with registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ.
What the Application Does
Redirects Easily creates 301 URL redirects when a merchant archives or deletes a product in their Shopify store, so that the product’s old URL continues to resolve instead of returning a 404. Redirects point to a destination the merchant chooses: a fixed page, or the product’s own collection.
Customer Data
Redirects Easily does not collect, store, process, or have access to any customer personal data. The application does not request access to customer records, orders, checkouts, or any personally identifiable information belonging to a merchant’s customers. It operates solely on product catalogue data and store URL redirects.
Merchant and Store Information We Store
To function, the application stores the following information, keyed to the merchant’s store domain:
- Authentication credentials — the offline access token and refresh token issued by Shopify when the merchant installs the application, the permission scopes granted, and the date of installation.
- Product reference data — for each product in the store, its Shopify product ID, its URL handle, and the identifier of the first collection it belongs to. This record is necessary because Shopify’s product deletion notification contains only a product ID, not the URL handle needed to build the redirect. It contains no product titles, descriptions, prices, images, or inventory data.
- Operational cache — a short-lived cache of the store’s chosen redirect destination, and a record of whether the store has an active subscription, so that routine operations do not require a fresh lookup each time.
The merchant’s chosen default redirect destination is stored on Shopify’s own infrastructure as a shop metafield, not on ours.
How We Use This Information
We use this information solely to operate the application: to authenticate with the merchant’s store on their behalf, to determine the correct URL for a redirect, to apply the merchant’s chosen destination, and to confirm subscription status. We do not use it for analytics, profiling, advertising, or any other purpose.
How We Share This Information
We do not sell, rent, or share this information with any third party for their own purposes. Our sole sub-processor is Cloudflare, Inc., which provides the compute and storage infrastructure on which the application runs. Data is handled in accordance with Cloudflare’s privacy commitments.
Data Retention and Deletion
Information is retained only while the application remains installed. When a merchant uninstalls Redirects Easily, Shopify notifies the application and the store’s stored credentials are deleted.
We support Shopify’s mandatory data privacy requests. On a shop data erasure request, we delete the store’s credentials and all of its product reference records. Because the application holds no customer data, a customer data request returns no data and a customer redaction request has no data to erase; both are acknowledged as required.
Redirects themselves are created within the merchant’s own Shopify store and remain under the merchant’s control. They are not removed when the application is uninstalled, and can be managed or deleted at any time from Shopify’s own URL redirects admin.
How We Protect This Information
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Incoming notifications from Shopify are cryptographically verified before being processed, and requests that fail verification are rejected. Access tokens and application secrets are held in secure storage; they are never hard-coded into the application, shared, or placed in public code repositories.
Your Rights
Under UK and EU data protection law, you have rights regarding any personal data we hold about you, including rights of access, correction, and deletion. A merchant can end all processing at any time by uninstalling the application from their Shopify admin, and may contact us using the details below to request deletion of any data we hold.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
