Weight Tally Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This policy covers the Weight Tally browser extension. The portside-commerce.com website has its own separate policy.

This Privacy Policy describes how Portside Commerce Ltd (“Portside Commerce,” “we,” “us”) handles information accessed through the Weight Tally browser extension for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox (“Weight Tally,” “the extension”).

Portside Commerce Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17214839), with registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ.

Weight Tally is an independent product. It works with StoreFeeder, but it is not made, endorsed or supported by StoreFeeder.

What the Extension Does

Weight Tally shows the average weight per order of the parcels a business has despatched, across the shipping services the user chooses, in the browser’s side panel (Chrome and Edge) or sidebar (Firefox). It works out these figures from the user’s own StoreFeeder account, while the user is signed in to StoreFeeder in the same browser.

Everything Happens in Your Browser

Weight Tally runs entirely on the user’s own computer, inside their browser. Portside Commerce does not operate any server for the extension, and the extension does not send any information to Portside Commerce or to any other third party. It contains no analytics, tracking, advertising or crash-reporting code.

The extension contains no remotely hosted code. All of its code is included in the package reviewed and distributed by the browser stores, and it does not download or execute code from anywhere else.

Information the Extension Reads

The extension only has access to two websites: StoreFeeder Classic (my.storefeeder.com) and StoreFeeder (app.storefeeder.com). It reads from them only while the user is signed in, using the user’s existing StoreFeeder sign-in. It never sees or handles the user’s StoreFeeder password.

  • StoreFeeder Classic: the extension reads the “Orders Despatched By Courier” report shown on the page. From the report table it uses each row’s courier, service, order count, average weight and order status, and the report’s date.
  • StoreFeeder: the extension asks StoreFeeder for the user’s despatched orders for the chosen dates, using the same request StoreFeeder’s own Orders page makes. This request goes only to StoreFeeder. StoreFeeder’s reply contains the order records as StoreFeeder provides them, which can include customer details such as names and addresses. From each order the extension uses only four things: the courier, the shipping method, the order status, and the weight. The rest of the reply is used for nothing else. It is held only briefly in the browser’s memory while the figures are worked out, and is never stored or sent anywhere.

Customer Data

Weight Tally does not collect, store or share any personal data about a business’s customers. The only figures it keeps are totals by shipping service (order counts and weights), which identify no one.

Information Stored on Your Computer

To work, the extension keeps the following in the browser’s own storage for extensions, on the user’s computer only:

  • Settings: which version of StoreFeeder is in use, the shipping services and order statuses ticked, the optional target weight, chosen dates, auto-refresh frequency and hours, the chosen theme, an optional report address (StoreFeeder Classic only), and whether setup has been completed.
  • The latest figures: the calculated average, order totals and weights for each shipping service, the date range they cover, the time they were read, and the address and title of the StoreFeeder tab they came from.
  • Display preferences: which sections of the panel were left open or closed.

None of this is sent to Portside Commerce or anyone else.

Browser Permissions

The extension asks for only the browser permissions it needs:

  • Access to my.storefeeder.com and app.storefeeder.com: to read the user’s figures from StoreFeeder, as described above. The extension has no access to any other website.
  • Storage: to keep the settings and latest figures described above, on the user’s computer.
  • Tabs: to find the StoreFeeder tab to read from, and to open or refresh it when the user asks.
  • Alarms: to refresh the figures automatically on the schedule the user chooses.
  • Scripting: to start reading from a StoreFeeder tab that was already open when the extension was installed or updated, so the user doesn’t have to reload it.
  • Side panel (Chrome and Edge only): to show Weight Tally in the browser’s side panel.

How We Share Information

We do not receive any information from the extension, so we have nothing to sell, rent or share. The extension’s only contact with an outside service is with StoreFeeder itself, on the user’s own account, as described above.

The browser stores that distribute the extension (the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons and Firefox Add-ons) may collect their own information about installs and use under their own privacy policies.

Limited Use

Weight Tally’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, and in all three browsers:

  • We do not sell or transfer user data to any third party.
  • We do not use or transfer user data for any purpose unrelated to Weight Tally’s single purpose, which is showing the average weight per order of despatched parcels.
  • We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness, or for lending purposes.
  • We do not use user data for advertising, personalised or otherwise, and the extension serves no advertising.
  • No human at Portside Commerce reads user data, because none of it ever reaches us.

Data Retention and Deletion

Everything the extension stores stays on the user’s computer until the user removes it. Removing (uninstalling) Weight Tally from the browser deletes all of its stored settings and figures. “Run setup again” in the extension’s Settings restarts setup, keeping the user’s ticked services.

How We Protect Information

The extension communicates only with StoreFeeder, over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and only on websites the user has allowed it to access. Because no information is sent to Portside Commerce, there is no copy of the user’s information held by us that could be exposed.

Children

Weight Tally is a tool for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

Your Rights

Under UK and EU data protection law, you have rights regarding any personal data we hold about you, including rights of access, correction and deletion. Weight Tally does not send us any personal data, so we hold none from the extension. You can delete everything the extension has stored at any time by removing it from your browser. You may contact us using the details below with any questions.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above, and, where a change affects how the extension handles information, by telling users within the extension itself.
